The first part of my examination helps students explore the global economy. This part requires them to research and analyze the differences between today’s global economy and those of the past. These include looking at national income comparisons, comparing the world today to those of the past, and understanding how international trade works. These skills will help students understand why it is important to take my emerging economies and globalization into consideration as they consider college options and what career options they have. It will also prepare them to be able to communicate this knowledge effectively throughout their academic careers.
The second part of my examination looks at the causes of globalization. This includes examining how emerging economies have affected each other in terms of trade, immigration, and government regulation. This is critical because it helps students discover how the changes in trade, immigration, and regulation have affected the U.S. as a nation. Because globalization has had such a profound effect on the U.S. economy, it is important for today’s college students to know how to talk about this topic in an intelligent and realistic manner.
Students must take my emerging economies and globalization examination in order to understand why it is important to do research on economic policies, free markets, and how the political systems of various nations interact with one another. The concepts I used to examine these topics were introduced into my college classes through professors who were also passionate about global economics. Professors who instilled in my mind the importance of globalization include Robert E. Lee, James R. Edwards, Kenneth J. Arrow, Edward S. Cowperthwaite, and Michael J. Petrilli.
One way for students to begin the examination of globalization is through “The Demography of Globalization.” This course examines how the patterns of global population growth have changed over the past century. It then moves on to examine the reasons why economic policies have not been adapted to meet the needs of the global population. After reviewing the many policies that have been adopted around the world, the class concludes with a brief exploration of the impact of the Internet on the expansion of globalization. A careful review of the literature reveals the complexities of addressing globalization’s challenges while also recognizing the limitations of the existing attempts to do so.
“How to Take My Emerging Economies and Globalization” addresses these limitations by first discussing the importance of international trade for economic growth. The class then explores how the Internet has dramatically changed the nature of business, and how entrepreneurs are leveraging the technology to create more international marketplaces. The final chapter of this ten-week course examines what students can do today to take my emerging economies and globalization to the next level.
As mentioned, “How to Take My Emerging Economies and Globalization” is the perfect complement to classes on economic development, global business, and globalization. The ten topics covered in the class explore the ways in which emerging markets provide opportunities for students to enter the global economy. The introduction and discussion of the emerging economy question are important in developing students’ understanding of the current landscape. Additionally, introducing students to current global business trends helps them develop realistic expectations about the future of globalization. Finally, following the review of globalization in the context of the book, students can examine the current state of the global economy and develop strategies to deal with current issues and potential changes as the global economy continues to mature.
This ten-week introductory class series provides a simple yet powerful framework for thinking about economic development. Following the review of the chapters, students will be able to articulate their personal visions of globalization and economic development. They will be able to map a path for their development, using the information gathered throughout the semester. “How to Take My Emerging Economies and Globalization” is a valuable addition to any economics class and should be taken very seriously by students considering a future in the field. It provides an overview of the state of international business, provides insights into the processes that lead to economic development, and presents an effective framework for studying globalization. Following the review of this book, students should be able to develop realistic expectations about their own futures and what they can do to make their dreams a reality.
