During my Masters, my boss assigned me to take an online quiz on my studies while at work. It was a very simple task – I just downloaded the questions and I did my best to answer them as best I could based on my knowledge at that point in time. In the end, I came out ahead in terms of accuracy and time spent, but not by much. After getting my Masters degree, however, I wanted to pursue a Phds, so I began planning my college education and did some research on how to take the actual exam.
This is a very common method of taking exams and one that I recommend. Of course, not everyone can afford to do this, nor does it work for everyone. It’s also time intensive. If you don’t have enough spare time, this may not be the best option for you. I did use this method, but I did notice that I wasted so much of my time on studying that I didn’t have time to study at all. I didn’t actually take any practice tests during my online class either, which I find makes the whole method a bit pointless.
What I did end up doing instead was to invest in some good study materials, and read my lectures from cover-to-cover. I also purchased some prep text books, which helped me tremendously. I found that not only did I get through my lectures more quickly, but I also had a better understanding of the material. And unlike my Master’s degree, which gave me time to study anyway, I didn’t have to spend time studying any more for the exam!
In order to take my clinical research online, I had to find some good study materials. Luckily, I had an entire year to prepare for the exam. I figured that if I took the time to learn the information I needed before hand, I’d likely do better on the test. This worked out great for me, and it definitely worked for other students who are taking their Clinical Research Online classes.
After spending all of this time studying, the day finally arrived when I got to go take the clinical research. As I’d expected, it was going to be a very time consuming process. First I had to write up a rough draft for my notes. Then I had to type them up into a document. Once I had these documents typed up and ready to reference, I’d have to figure out what research materials to take with me to the exam.
By the end of the day I had about two and a half pages of research written up. Once I went to bed I counted about seven and a half hours left until my exam. That left quite a few hours for me to get everything together and to make sure that I had all of my references with me. I woke up early the next morning and began the long process of reviewing again for my online class. It was a very time intensive process, but I did learn a lot.
When my class was over, I sat down at my computer and began researching again. I ended up learning even more about clinical research and its requirements. Now I knew exactly what I needed to get passed the test. Not only that, but now I knew how much time and effort it took to pass the clinical research class. In short, I now know exactly what I needed to prepare for the NCLEX. In fact, I now recommend that anyone take the clinical research course before taking their actual license examination.
