The admission process was easy because it was an online course. They require a high school diploma or GED, but for most universities, a SAT or ACT exam might be required as well. All I had to do to get an online course was to fill out an application form, and they automatically send it out. After that, all I had to do was to wait for the tests to come in. I’m not the kind of person that gets too excited over little things.
The next step for me was to get all the financial details of my new school. I learned that the costs of online colleges are much lower than the brick and mortar equivalent. It costs about the same per credit hour, but the savings don’t stop there. I also learned that in most cases, you get just one credit hour. In a traditional classroom setting, you’re lucky to get two or three credits. Once I was at my desired college, I could start picking my classes, and I never had to worry about finding a ride to class!
So, what if I could no longer drive to and from school to do my classes? That meant I would have to find someone willing to take the exam for me. How did I know I was qualified to take the test? Well, I earned my GED in high school and then went to college and earned my Bachelor’s degree, so I knew that I had a real interest in knowing more about algebra.
I went to my local college and asked them what I could do to earn a GED while working, and they told me that they had an online calculator that they would mail to my house that would take my test, and it was absolutely free! I couldn’t believe it. I thought that I would have to pay for college just to get access to an online calculator. It almost made me feel like I wasn’t worthy to attend a college!
So, what I did was I enrolled in two classes online, one for adults, and one for kids. What a difference it has made! Now, whenever I have time, I can pop in to take an online test, and I’ve been getting some good grades in all of my classes. Plus, since I took the class for adults, I would actually have more friends online than I would have had if I had taken the test for kids.
Does anyone else have this type of opportunity? I’m sure there are a few of you out there. The economy is tough and we all need a second income source. Instead of spending countless hours at a job that pays minimum wage, why not take online classes, and earn a free GED while you’re at it?
There are so many people out there that have found out how great online courses are, and they are earning their degree while earning a second income, while having fun, and earning money while they sleep.
