Multiple Choice. Most people like to take at least one online question type test every month or so. This way they can continue their education and get the answers they need even if they forget or don’t remember the exact answer to a particular question. However, the problem with this method is that you can only correct your answers once you’ve actually looked at the answer.
Correct Answer Selection. This is probably the most popular way to take my online biotechnology tests and can be done through a variety of web sites that offer live streaming of multiple choice questions. Depending on the site you’re using, there might even be a pop up window allowing you to select your response options from a selection menu.
Pop-up Answer Selection. This works pretty well if you’re taking a multiple choice question and you know you’re absolutely correct. However, if you’re not sure, this is a pretty poor method to attempt as the site may end up making things even more confusing than they already are. Also, since the site will be displaying your answer on a screen instead of responding to a real e-mail, you won’t necessarily get a chance to save and revise your answer before the next question is asked.
Assisted Testing. This method will ask you a set of questions, and then it will supply you with the correct answer as a pop up window. While this can sometimes work very well, you need to know that the site behind the question is reputable enough to trust. Also, you need to make sure that the test hasn’t been compromised in any way.
Test Construction. There’s really no need to go through months of research when answering a simple online biotechnology test. The software will analyze your entire study along with various other factors, and will produce the answers immediately. Some of these questionnaires even allow you to save specific charts and graphs so that you can refer back to them at a later time. This definitely speeds up the process.
Assessments. Once the software produces the correct results, you will get a report that contains an overview of your test’s results as well as a discussion of the findings. As you might guess, the goal of this section is to assess the strength and weaknesses of your knowledge. Based on this assessment, you will either pass or fail. Obviously, there’s no need to take this section too seriously-if someone were to manipulate the questions and fabricate results, the whole test would fail.
Verifications. The last section of an online biotechnology test will verify that you’re really taking the test. The site will supply you with a code to verify that you did indeed take the test. Of course, it’s difficult to say whether or not the site is legitimate without further testing. However, this step seems like it should be included with every online biology test.
Confidence. You can’t take any online biotechnology test for the questions and answers are entirely subjective; they rely on your own judgment and guesswork. If the questions seem too hard or too easy to answer, then the validity of the entire test is in question.
How confident are you in your ability to answer questions about your life and your biology? Are you confident enough to give this test to an unsupervised stranger? Can you stand the embarrassment of having to submit your personal details online? This is why online biotechnology tests are usually not longer offered for free. There are several reasons for this: if the validity of the test is in question, if somebody has used your details without permission (and gotten hold of your credit card details), if the test has resulted in the submission of false information or false results, or if the site is fraudulent.
As you can see from all the points made above, it’s a good idea to check online biotechnology tests out before you take them. Try searching for ‘biotechnology test’ on Google or some other search engine and look at the results. If the site looks reliable, it should be worth a try. Otherwise, it’s better just to pass on and save yourself the embarrassment!
